Thomson Reuters and Refinitiv’s $1 Billion Shares Placing

Simpson Thacher represented entities owned indirectly by a consortium of certain investment funds affiliated with The Blackstone Group Inc., an affiliate of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, an affiliate of GIC Special Investments Pte. Ltd., Thomson Reuters, certain members of Refinitiv management and certain other co-investors, as selling shareholders.

The consortium executed an approximate US$1 billion accelerated bookbuilt offering of shares in London Stock Exchange Group plc (“LSEG”).

The placing shares sold were beneficially held by Thomson Reuters and certain members of Refinitiv management. The placing followed the completion of the US$27 billion acquisition of Refinitiv by LSEG in January 2021.
