The Siam Industrial Wire Co.’s favorable ruling in an antidumping case

Haynes and Boone, LLP has advised The Siam Industrial Wire Co., a Thai maker of steel wire products, win a favorable ruling this month in an antidumping case in the U.S. Court of International Trade.

U.S. steel wire producers Davis Wire Corp. and Insteel Wire Products Company filed the case, accusing Siam of selling its products in the U.S. for less than fair value.

The U.S. Commerce Department initially determined that Siam had not dumped the subject merchandise, but Davis and Insteel appealed that ruling to the Court of International Trade.

On appeal, the Court of International Trade likewise concluded that Siam is not required to pay dumping duties.

It was a particularly successful outcome for Siam in light of the fact that Davis Wire and Insteel have targeted other foreign wire producers and have convinced U.S. regulators to impose dumping duties on those targets.
