TDK Corporation’s acquisition of California-based Chirp Microsystems, Inc.

Nixon Peabody represented TDK Corporation (TDK) in its purchase of Chirp Microsystems, Inc., a California-based company that designs, develops, and manufactures ultrasonic 3D-sensing solutions for consumer electronics, smart homes, and industrial automation.

Under the terms of the agreement, Chirp Microsystems has now become a TDK Group Company.

TDK Corporation manufactures electronics components such as magnetic tapes and ferrite cores. The Company, led by Takehiro Kamigama, Shigenao Ishiguro and Seiji Ohsaka, in 2017 recorded $11.09 billion revenues.

Nixon Peabody’s deal team was led by San Francisco–based partner Thomas Gaynor (Picture) with assistance from Los Angeles–based partner Stephen Reil, and associates Kyle Uhlman and Sterling Chan, both based in San Francisco.
