Paul, Weiss client The Carlyle Group has agreed to sell its majority interest in Eastern Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), Taiwan’s largest television broadcaster, to Taiwan Optical Platform Co., Ltd. (TOP), a Taiwan-based telecommunications services provider.
Carlyle first acquired an interest in EBC in 2006 and signed the sale and purchase agreement with TOP on October 14, with a consideration of approximately $350 million. The deal is expected to close by early 2017.
