Sunstone Hotel Investors’ $265 Million Acquisition of Montage Healdsburg

Dentons represented Ohana Real Estate Investors in the transaction.

Ohana Real Estate Investors (Ohana), a vertically integrated investment firm focused exclusively on the luxury hospitality space, completed the sale of the 130-room Montage Healdsburg to Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. for US$265 million. Ohana will retain ownership of the residential parcels within the property and has already begun constructing homes and selling custom homesites that will be affiliated with the resort.

Ohana has been among the most active investors in the hotel sector since the onset of the pandemic, investing in a range of luxury hotel properties and related investments. This transaction marks Ohana’s second sale of a hotel property for more than US$2 million per key. In the first sale, from December 2019, Ohana sold Montage Beverly Hills for US$2.1 million per key, the highest price-per-key hotel sale in the U.S. at the time. Dentons has advised Ohana in both transactions.

Dentons represented Ohana with Hotels and Leisure partner Rick Ross (Picture), who led the team, Hotels and Leisure partners Mark Daliere and Christopher Lee, Corporate partners Don Hammett and Raleigh Johnston, Real Estate counsel Amber Morris and associate Sam Harmelech.
