Nixon Peabody LLP is representing artist Sterling Ruby in his relationship with fashion house Calvin Klein.
Sterling, named by the New York Times as one of the most interesting artists of the twentieth century and one of the most celebrated contemporary artists of his generation to emerge out of Los Angeles, is represented by Nixon Peabody attorneys Thaddeus Stauber and Ellie Altshuler.
Sterling, in collaboration with Calvin Klein Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons, redesigned the New York City Madison Avenue flagship store and the twelfth floor showroom at the company’s headquarters at 205 West 39th Street. At the flagship store, scaffolding and bright yellow paint present an environment under construction, while quilts and fringe evoke elements of Americana.
Calvin Klein, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets designer apparel and other products for women and men. The company, led by Steve Shiffman, Frank Cancelloni, Malcolm Carfrae, Jennifer Crawford and Rod Manley, is based in New York.
Thaddeus Stauber (Picture) and Ellie Altshuler worked closely with Sterling Ruby Studio, led by Director Tyler Britt, and Calvin Klein Executive Vice President and General Counsel Pamela Bradford, to bring the powerhouses together.
