STEAG Energy Services’ Acquisition of operation and maintenance of wind and hydro plants in Brazil

Demarest advised on the deal

STEAG Energy Services has acquired all the operation and maintenance contracts for wind farms and hydro-electric power plants from ENEX, a Brazilian subsidiary of Norwegian Statkraft.

Under the transaction, STEAG Energy Services is taking over those O&M contracts that Statkraft had concluded with third parties, while the Statkraft plants continue to be operated by Statkraft. The transaction covers eight O&M contracts (260 MW) for medium-sized and small hydro power plants and ten O&M contracts (849 MW) for wind farms. Around 80 employees are to be taken on by STEAG Energy Services do Brasil. The two parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

By taking over the O&M contracts, STEAG Energy Services can significantly expand its service business in Brazil. In February 2016, STEAG Energy Services do Brasil Ltd. (SESBR) had already taken on the operation and maintenance of a gas processing plant for Parnaiba Gas Natural S.A. (PGN).

STEAG Energy Services is highly successful in the operation and maintenance of power plants in many countries across the globe. It operates power plants in Spain, South America, Africa and India. With the services now provided on the Brazilian market, STEAG Energy Services operates more than 5000 MW internationally.
