The deal, signed on 11 December, is a high-profile one for Tasmania and cements a 20 year partnership between the State and Healthscope in relation to co-located service delivery between the Royal Hobart and Hobart Private co-located hospitals, and the integration of the full range of public and private hospital services for the people of Tasmania from the State’s flagship health campus.
The Hobart Private Hospital directly employs over 550 people and draws on the expertise of more than 350 consulting doctors. Each year on average, the Hospital treats over 23,500 patients and undertakes 14,000 procedures. Close coordination between the Royal Hobart and Hobart Private Hospitals is integral to ensuring services are well coordinated and that theTasmanian people receive the best possible clinical care. This renewed partnership enshrines that coordination.
