Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2001 by Michael Mothner, the company’s current CEO, Wpromote is a leading independent digital marketing agency with 350 people across eight offices. Wpromote helps its clients—which range from startups to Fortune 500 companies—grow their businesses online by providing them with end-to-end digital solutions. Regardless of a client’s size, as a “challenger agency,” Wpromote’s goal is to employ its wide ranging digital tactics so that its clients can effectively challenge their top competitors. Shamrock’s investment in Wpromote represents the first outside capital the company has taken.

Recently, Wpromote has had a string of exciting accomplishments, including: the completion of three acquisitions in the past 18 months; being awarded Agency of the Year by Search Engine Land; and, being named one of the Elite Digital Marketing Agencies in Forrester’s Search Marketing Wave.

Shamrock, a Los Angeles-based alternative investment firm with approximately $1.9 billion of assets under management, invests exclusively in the media, entertainment and communications sectors. Founded in 1978 as the family investment firm of the late Roy E. Disney, it has since evolved into an institutional money manager with a leading group of investors, including endowment and pension funds.
