RSBG SE’s Acquisition of Majority Stake in Notion Systems GmbH

CMS advised Notion Systems GmbH on the deal.

The shareholders of Notion Systems GmbH, one of the leading suppliers of industrial inkjet printing systems for functional inks, are selling a majority stake to the Advanced Manufacturing Unit of RSBG SE.

Notion Systems will thus become a sister company of Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH (“Heidelberg Instruments”) and SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH. The four founders of Notion Systems will remain with the company as co-partners and Managing Directors.

Notion Systems is a leading supplier of industrial inkjet printing systems for functional materials. The n.jet inkjet platform is used for the production of electronic displays, printed circuit boards, semiconductor components as well as high-precision optical 3D parts. The company draws on decades of experience, bringing precision inkjet systems to customers and scaling digital printing processes from the lab to industrial production at leading global customers. Notion Systems is headquartered in Schwetzingen, near Heidelberg, Germany, and works with leading sales and service organizations worldwide, with a focus on Asia, Europe and North America.

Founded in 2014, the investment company sees itself as a long-term partner to medium-sized businesses. Accordingly, the company uses a buy-and-build strategy to invest in successful medium-sized companies. RSBG SE holds majority stakes in companies that are divided into the four business areas “Infrastructure”, “Automation & Robotics”, “Information & Communication” and “Advanced Manufacturing”. The investment in Notion Systems complements the product range of Heidelberg Instruments, one of the leading suppliers of maskless laser lithography systems for the manufacture of microstructures, and SPECS. As a result, the “Advanced Manufacturing” area will be expanded in a targeted manner.
