Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison represented an affiliate of Roark Capital, while Choate represented Mathnasium and its shareholders, including Symmetric Capital, in the transaction.
Roark Capital executed its acquisition of Mathnasium, a leading franchisor and operator of math learning centers with over 1,000 locations across 46 states and 12 countries. The transaction marks Roark’s 28th investment in a founder-owned company and 98th franchise/multi-location brand. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mathnasium delivers customized learning plans designed to help students improve their math skills and develop confidence in the subject through fun and engaging live instruction.
Roark is an Atlanta-based private equity firm with $33 billion in assets under management. Roark focuses on investments in consumer and business service companies, with a specialization in franchised and multi-location business models in the restaurant, specialty retail, consumer and business services, and health, wellness and beauty sectors.
