Peru’s telecommunications and transport ministry (MTC) has signed a contract with YOFC consortium – including Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) and Yachay Telecomunicaciones – to build a 7,500km fiber optic network to serve 900,000 residents.

The $411 Million network will be financed through universal services fund Pronatel.

Peru is planning to connect 900 localities to its national fiber optic backbone RDNFO by 2021, which will extend some 30,000km.
