Veirano Advogados starts the new year with partner Paula Surerus taking up the managing partner position for the 2022-2023 term, beginning another renewal phase in the Firm’s leadership, as provided for in its corporate governance.   Although she has been a part of our Managing Committee since 2020, in charge of the overall coordination of legal practices, Paula is the first woman to hold the position of Managing Partner at Veirano, a noteworthy milestone in our long and successful 50-year trajectory. Paula’s election to the position reflects her high personal and professional qualities and skills, confirming her leadership capacity and recognition by her peers and the market.
Paula states that she is “extremely honored with the new challenges and committed to the firm’s continued growth, as well as to the extra care with the well-being of more than 600 people who make up Team Veirano. With two challenging years in the rearview mirror and new challenges on the horizon, given the Brazilian and global context, I am confident that we will move forward with greater strength, growing along with our employees, our clients and the society in general.”

With 20 years of successful experience in the legal sector, Paula focuses her practice on corporate law, M&A transactions, joint ventures and infrastructure projects. Her track record encompasses the leadership of numerous projects and relevant transactions in various industries, among other highlights. Having worked at the New York office of Hughes, Hubbard & Reed, Paula joined Veirano in 2013.

Paula Surerus succeeds partner Ricardo Veirano, who led the Firm for the last six years. Ricardo continues as a trusted advisor to specific clients, resuming his M&A and private equity practices in greater volume and intensity, in addition to a leadership position in new business development.
For Ricardo, “it was an enormous pleasure to work with Paula in the Management Committee and she could not have been more prepared to take on the position of managing partner. She has the respect of partners, incredible business acumen and agility, knows our business in detail and is extremely empathetic and concerned with our clients and employees. I take great pride and peace of mind in passing the baton on to her, knowing that we will reach new heights as a firm under her leadership. Furthermore, I look forward to returning to the ‘frontline’ of corporate transactions more intensively and also to the development of more business with our current clients and prospects.”
