Patricia Industries’ $780 Million Acquisition of Advanced Instruments


Simpson Thacher represented Patricia Industries, while Kirkland advised Windjammer Capital on the deal.

Windjammer Capital completed the $780 million sale of Advanced Instruments, LLC to Patricia Industries, a part of Investor AB. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Patricia Industries is a long-term owner that invests in companies, in the Nordics and in North America, and works to develop each company to its full potential. The Company was founded in Sweden by the Wallenberg family and is owned by the family’s industrial holding company, Investor AB.

Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts, Advanced Instruments is a global provider of scientific and analytical instruments for the clinical, biotechnology, and food and beverage industries.

Windjammer Capital is a national private equity investment firm, based in Newport Beach, CA and Waltham, MA that invests control equity in middle-market businesses and in partnership with management.

Advanced Instruments was advised by Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC.
