White & Case LLP has advised Offshore Energy Pty Ltd (Offshore) on its strategic partnership for the development of Australia’s first offshore wind project.
Offshore Energy is a Victorian-based company established in 2012 to identify suitable locations off the coast of Australia for the development of offshore wind energy projects.
The Star of the South will be located in the Bass Strait between 10km and 25km off the coast of Victoria’s Gippsland region and is the first offshore wind farm in Australia. When fully completed, it will be the country’s largest renewable energy project. It is expected that the project will be developed in stages to a capacity of approximately 2000 MW. The Star of the South will undertake detailed environmental and feasibility studies to determine viability and gain the required regulatory approval.
The White & Case team in Melbourne which advised on the transaction was led by partners Andrew Clark (Picture), Adeline Pang and Tim Power and included associate Bryce Paterson
