Mott MacDonald Ventures’ Investment in Piclo

Goodwin Procter LLP advised Mott MacDonald Ventures on the deal.

Mott MacDonald Ventures announced its equity investment in energy market disruptor and cleantech startup Piclo, as part of a Series A £4.7M funding round led by the Clean Growth Fund. The investment in Piclo is strongly linked to Mott MacDonald’s ’Net Zero’ strategy which includes a toolkit that helps non-energy clients decarbonise their electricity supplies and deliver a sustainable transition towards new energy market design.

Founded on a vision of a world powered by cheap and abundant renewable electricity, Piclo is on a mission to make our energy system smart, flexible and clean, faster. Piclo Flex is an independent marketplace for trading energy flexibility online. The platform leverages the latest digital technology to enable electricity networks to buy flexibility services that help balance the grid from technologies such as electric vehicles and battery storage.
