Squire Patton Boggs has advised Mobusi Mobile Advertising S.L., one of the leading mobile advertising companies in Spain, on the acquisition of the Spanish start-up Upplication, a company specialising in the development of video games.
Upplication was founded in 2013 with one software engineer, José Luis Vega de Seoane, and one journalist, Víctor Rodado, who joined together with a clear idea in mind: to change the way in which an SME (99% of Spain’s business network) could create its own mobile app – without the need for previous knowledge, time or an extensive budget. Their vision soon became Upplication, which in 2014, caught the eye of Wayra (the Telefónica Open Future startup accelerator), and who today joins part of the team.
With a turnover of €75 million in 2016 and more than 250 employees, Mobusi is the biggest mobile company in Spain operating in the performance and branding market. Founded in 2012 with its headquarters in Madrid, the company expanded internationally two years ago and now has a presence in Mexico, India and the US, enabling the company to provide a worldwide service.
The Squire Patton Boggs team advising Mobusi was led by Madrid partner Ramón Castilla (picture), with support from Sandra Paoletti (Corporate), Jose Aguilar Shea and Miguel Nasser (Tax Strategy & Benefits), Juan Nasarre (Labor & Employment) and Cristina Fernández (Real Estate).
