Mersen, a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, has announced the acquisition of Advanced Graphite Materials Italy S.R.L. (AGM) from the Reineke family, a long-standing player in graphite and carbon fiber insulation. The transaction price is €10 million.

The acquisition will give the Advanced Materials segment access to the facilities it needs to process specialty extruded graphite in Europe. It will strengthen the Group’s positions in Italy, Germany and Central Europe, especially in the electronics and heat processing markets that need large parts, and will eventually be supplied by the Columbia site.

Based in Malonno, Lombardy (Italy), AGM boasts more than 90 years’ experience in the machining and purification of carbon-based parts, including large parts. The site is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 standards and was part of the Graftech Group until 2017. The company employs some 40 people and generated sales of about €17 million.
