McCain’s Acquisition of 49% Interest in Forno de Minas

McCain, the world leader of frozen french fries and Forno de Minas, the leader in cheese breads, entered into an agreement under which McCain will acquire a 49% interest in Forno de Minas.

Founded in 1990 by the Mendonça family and leader in the cheese bread market with Dona Dalva’s traditional recipe, Forno de Minas offers a wide range of products including puff pastry, potato bread, burek, stuffed pasta, lasagne and waffles. The company also exports products to over 15 countries around the world. Forno de Minas operates 3 production facilities and employs 1000 staff in Brazil, with sales turnover of R$340 million.

McCain Brazil is a division of McCain Foods Limited, which is a privately owned company based in Canada. McCain Foods Limited is the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products and a global leader in appetizers and snacks. It employs approximately 20,000 people, operates 53 production facilities on six continents and generates annual sales in excess of CDN $9 billion.

Helder Mendonça, CEO of Forno de Minas, will continue in this role, following the completion of the transaction.
