Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s Sale of Its Swiss Niederbipp Plant

Homburger advised Kimberly-Clark in the sale.

Kimberly-Clark had agreed to sell its paper mill in Niederbipp (Canton of Berne) as well as the “Tela” brand to the Queck family, a German family of entrepreneurs which already owns several paper producers, including Fripa Papierfabrik Albert Friedrich KG in Germany.

Thanks to the sale, the paper mill, which is an important employer in the region, will continue to operate. Closing is scheduled for May 1, 2021.

KCC has 40,000 employees worldwide and reported sales of $18.5bn last year. The group’s product range includes toilet paper as well as wet wipes, diapers, feminine hygiene pads and paper hand towels, sold under well-known brands such as Huggies diapers, Cottonelle toilet paper and flushable wipes and Kleenex facial tissues.

The Homburger team was led by Daniel Hasler and included Daniel Häusermann (Picture), Richard Stäuber, Peter Müller, Stefan Luginbühl, Stefan Gäumann, Yves Bianchi and Nicole Hilpert.
