Kerry Group’s €853 Million Acquisition of Niacet Group

Kennedy Van der Laan advised the Niacet group on their recent transaction with the Kerry Group.

The Kerry Group, a publicly traded food company headquartered in Ireland, acquired Hare Topco Inc., trading as Niacet Corp., for 853 million euros ($1.01 billion), as it seeks to strengthen its food protection and preservation strategy.

Niacet Group is a US-based producer of organic salt and a market leader in technologies for preservation, it operates in the Bakery and Pharma sectors, while its low-sodium preservation systems are also used in the Meat and plant based food sectors. 
Niacet Group has customers in over 75 countries and manufacturing sites in Niagara Falls (USA) and Tiel (The Netherlands).

Management commented that the addition of Niacet’s complementary capabilities will enhance Kerry’s food protection and preservation strategy to offer new products and technologies in a broader market. The transaction is still subject to satisfaction of customary conditions.
