Patterson Belknap secured a significant victory for LifeScan, Inc. in the case.

LifeScan, Inc. secured a significant victory in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven M. Gold issued a report and recommendation that our client be granted a permanent injunction, banning multiple manufacturers from infringing, counterfeiting, or otherwise violating our client’s federally registered trademark on a blood glucose test strip, which is used by diabetics to monitor their blood glucose levels. In addition, the Court recommended that our client be awarded $3 million in statutory damages and $6 million in punitive damages.

LifeScan, Inc. manufactures and supplies blood glucose monitoring equipment for hospital and home use. The company, led by Val Asbury, Charles Renfroe, Glenn Johnson, Alan Cariski and Ken El-Sherif, is based in Milpitas (CA).
