Walkers acted as lead counsel to Iceland Seafood International hf, the Nasdaq Iceland listed global seafood processing business (ISI).
In parallel with the acquisition of Carr & Sons, Iceland Seafood has also acquired a 33% share in the fish processing plant Oceanpath in Ireland for ISK 1.5 billion (€9 million). Sixty percent of the purchase price will be paid in cash and 40 per cent in new shares in Iceland Seafood.
Oceanpath was established over 30 years ago by Alan Ecock and since then the Ecock family have grown Oceanpath to become a market leader in Ireland. Ken and Trevor Ecock will continue to play a key management role in Ireland following completion of the buyout.
Iceland Seafood International is one of the fastest growing seafood companies in Europe, with interests in Iceland, the UK, Spain, France, Germany and the United States.
