Guarana Urban Mobility Incorporated’s Acquisition of 88,6% Interest in SuperVia

Guarana Urban Mobility Incorporated owned by Japanese group Mitsui & Co Ltd and  West Japan Railway Company,  executed an agreement with Odebrecht TransPort S.A. to reach the 88,6% interest in suburban Brazil railway company SuperVia SA.

Mitsui, already a shareholder in Odebrecht Mobilidade, a holding company that controls Rio de Janeiro-based SuperVia, with a 40% stake.

Mitsui is a general trading company. The Company has operating groups including iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, machinery, chemicals, foods, energy, textiles, and general merchandise. Mitsui also operates real estate and overseas development projects. The company, led by Masami Iijima, Tatsuo Yasunaga and Koji Nagatomi, in 2018 recorded $43.8 billion revenues.

West Japan Railway Company provides rail transportation services including the shinkansen network (bullet train) in North Kyushu, Kinki, Chugoku, and Hokuriku including Kyoto and Osaka. The company, led by Seiji Manabe, Tatsuo Kijima and Fumito Ogata, in 2018 recorded $13,4 billion Revenues.
