Foley Hoag LLP represented LevelUp, a leader in mobile diner engagement and payment solutions for restaurants, in its $390M sale to online and mobile food-ordering and delivery marketplace Grubhub Inc. (NYSE: GRUB).
The acquisition is subject to standard closing conditions, including the expiration of U.S. antitrust waiting periods, and is expected to close at a later date.
Boston-based LevelUp offers a mobile payment network used by 1 million customers and over 5000 businesses nationwide. With the acquisition of LevelUp, Grubhub will offer restaurants comprehensive solutions to drive online delivery and pickup orders, from demand generation through fulfillment. In addition to making it easier for restaurants to integrate with the Grubhub marketplace, it is expected that LevelUp will accelerate Grubhub’s existing point-of-sale integration capabilities and provide restaurants with CRM and analytical tools to drive more diners to their platform and increase volume from existing diners.
