Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Acquisition of Aptitude Investment Management


Fried Frank advised Goldman Sachs Asset Management, LP on the deal

Goldman Sachs Asset Management announced today it has entered into an agreement to acquire Aptitude Investment Management. The acquisition will complement GSAM’s world-class alternative investments program and expand its suite of offerings for clients. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Aptitude is an investment management firm based in Seattle and Vancouver primarily focused on hedge fund investment solutions for large institutions. The firm manages investments through customized separate accounts and commingled funds of hedge funds for a select group of clients.

The Aptitude team will join GSAM’s Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group, which manages more than $200 billion of client assets as of September 30, 2018 and provides investors with investment and advisory solutions across third-party hedge fund managers, private equity funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies.

Aptitude’s team will remain in Seattle and Vancouver.
