DLA Piper advised Etihad Airways on a pioneering EUR100 million sustainable finance transaction.
Through this transaction, Ethiad Airways becomes the first airline to secure funding for a project based on its compatibility with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
The EUR100 million syndicated loan was arranged by First Abu Dhabi Bank and is part of a partnership between Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Global Market. The transaction will support the expansion of the Etihad Eco-Residence, a sustainable apartment complex for the airline’s cabin crew.
The DLA Piper London-based Asset Finance and Capital Markets and Structured Investment team advising Etihad was led by partners Richard Skipper (Picture) and Joywin Mathew and associate Anna Powers.
