Energous’s Industry-First FCC Wireless Charging Certification

Cooley client Energous Corporation announced its FCC certification of the company’s revolutionary wire-free, power-at-a-distance charging technology, WattUp. This marks the first FCC certification of its kind, representing a new era of wireless charging.

The WattUp Mid Field transmitter sends focused, radio frequency-based power to WattUp-enabled electronic devices at a distance of up to three feet. It is the only technology that can do both contact-based and non-contact-based wireless charging, as well as multiple devices – smartphones, tablets, fitness trackers, earbuds, smart speakers – at once.

Energous Corporation, which trades on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the symbol “WATT,” plans to demonstrate its latest WattUp technology at CES 2018, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, January 9 to 12 in Las Vegas.

Cooley partner and former FCC commissioner Robert McDowell (Picture) advised Energous through the approval process.
