Ctrip.com acquires Skyscanner for £1.4 billion


Fried Frank acted as US securities counsel to Skyscanner on its £1.4 billion (US$1.7 billion) sale to Ctrip.com International, China’s largest online travel group.

Skyscanner is a Scottish travel search site which offers online airfare comparison and booking services for hotels and car hire. The deal is expected to close before the end of the year, and Skyscanner will continue to operate independently. Ctrip is a US SEC registrant with American Depositary Shares listed on NASDAQ, the sole trading market for Ctrip equity.

Fried Frank has previously acted as US securities counsel for Skyscanner in its £128m private placement in January 2016, as well as in other US matters.

Pinsent Masons served as lead international counsel to Skyscanner, and Ctrip was advised by Skadden Arps and Travers Smith.
