Ropes & Gray represented CITIC Capital Holdings Limited in its acquisition, together with China-based Humanwell Healthcare (Group) Co., Ltd., of the sexual wellness business unit of Ansell Limited.
Ansell Limited designs, develops, and manufactures protection solutions in the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, and North America. The company, led by Magnus R. Nicolin, Neil I. Salmon, Steve Genzer, Joeseph Kubicek and Anthony Lopez, operates through four segments: Medical, Industrial, Single Use, and Sexual Wellness.
CITIC invested through its CITIC Capital China Partners III fund. The acquired business includes Ansell’s condom, lubricant and devices business and manufacturing sites and includes several leading brands.
The deal was announced May 24 and is expected to close by the end of 2017, subject to regulatory approvals. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
