Belo Monte Transmissora de Energia S.A.’s $784 Million Financing

Belo Monte Transmissora de Energia SPE S.A. is engaged in the construction, operation, and maintenance of electricity transmission facilities under the concession agreement. The company was founded in 2014 and is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Caixa Econômica Federal and Brazilian Development Bank have granted the financing to construct, operate and maintain the 800kV Xingu-Estreito transmission line and its related facilities. The consortium is composed of Chinese company State Grid Brazil Holding (51%) and Brazilian utilities Furnas (24.5%) and Eletronorte (24.5%). The project includes the construction of an 800kV ultra-high-voltage transmission line to transmit power generated by the Belo Monte hydropower plant, in the northern state of Pará, adding 11.2GW to Brazil’s national electricity grid.

State Grid Brasil Holding and Eletrobras have granted the transaction with China Development Bank.
