AZ Medien’s merger with NZZ-Mediengruppe

AZ Medien and NZZ-Mediengruppe combine their regional media businesses in a jointly controlled entity with equal shareholdings.

Together they want to strengthen regional journalism in German-speaking Switzerland and promote the digital transformation.

The new company will reach around 2 million people in German-speaking Switzerland with the regional newspapers and online portals as well as the non-licensed radio and TV stations of both companies and the AZ media magazines. With sales of just under CHF 500 million and 2,000 employees, it will be one of Switzerland’s leading media companies.

The transaction requires approval of the Swiss Competition Commission.
