DLA Piper represented Asahi Shuzo Co., Ltd. in the acquisition of the site for the company’s first sake brewing facility outside of Japan. The 52,500 square ft. location is located adjacent to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York.
The brewery will also include retail space, and will be open for public tours upon expected completion in 2019. The Japan-based brewer is the maker of Dassai premium Junmai Daiginjo sake.
The Asahi Shuzo Company produces world-renowned sake, and is investing more than US$28 million in the facility with the goal of brewing more than 332,000 gallons of sake annually.
