Warner Music Group’s acquisition of EMP Merchandising Handelsgesellschaft mbH


Shearman & Sterling advised Warner Music Group (WMG) on the acquisition of EMP Merchandising Handelsgesellschaft mbH (EMP), one of Europe’s leading specialty music and entertainment merchandise e-tailers.

The acquisition is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2018, subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions including competition authority approval in Germany.

EMP is a German specialty music and entertainment merchandise e-tailer headquartered in Lingen/Ems, Germany. EMP, founded in 1986, is represented in 18 countries in Europe and operates an online shop and five stores in Germany and Austria.
