Voltalia Group’s $25.7 Million Financing for the construction of a wind power plant in Brazil

Dias Carneiro Advogados, Reed Smith and Stocche Forbes advised on the deal

Usina de Energia Eólica Vila Acre I SPE S.A. operating as a special purpose vehicle controlled by Voltalia Group secured a $25.7 million long-term loan from Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A. in order to finance the construction and operation of its wind power plant located in the city of Serra do Mel, State of Rio Grande do Norte State. The wind farm with 27,3 MWs total installed capacity owned by Voltalia is called EOL Vila Acre I.

The long-term loan with BNB is guaranteed by, among other guarantees typical in project finance deals, bank guarantees (fianças) granted by Banco Bradesco S.A. and Itaú Unibanco S.A..

Voltalia S.A. produces electricity from alternative sources. The Company, led by Sebastien Clerc, Marie-Odile Lavenant and Pierre Michel Cremieux uses hydroelectric, wind, and biomass to generate electricity in France, Guyana, and Brazil. In 2017, Voltalia recorded $180 Million Revenues.
