Simon Property Group, L.P.’s $3.5 Billion Notes Offering

Sidley recently represented Simon Property Group, L.P., the operating partnership of Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE: SPG), in its $3.5 billion public offering of 2.000% notes (due 2024), 2.450% notes (due 2029) and 3.250% notes (due 2049). Simon Property Group, Inc. owns, develops and manages premier shopping, dining, entertainment and mixed-use destinations and is the largest real estate investment trust (REIT) in the world. This is the first time that a real estate company issued $1.25 billion of 30-year bonds in a single issuance, and the interest rate for each series of notes is the lowest achieved by any REIT for notes with comparable maturities.
