Gunderson Dettmer advised Newsela on the deal
Newsela, a developer of an e-learning platform featuring student-tailored news and instructional content, has raised $50 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Technology Crossover Ventures.
Newsela, Inc. publishes online news articles daily to help students master the advanced literacy skills. It offers news on war and peace, science, kids, money, law, health, arts, and sports categories. Newsela, Inc. was formerly known as Whipsmart Learning LLC.
The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Brian Patterson (Picture) and included IP partner David Sharrow and associates Jake Ornstein, Valdemar Washington, Vikki Nguyen and Laura Chao.
