Grupo Soma, a leading player in the Brazilian fashion industry, entered into an agreement to acquire Maria Filó, a Brazilian brand focused on women’s wear founded in 1997, currently operating 65 stores (owned and franchised stores). Maria Filó brand is also distributed to more than 400 multi-label fashion stores throughout the country.
Grupo Soma is among the largest retailers in Brazil, with more than 200 stores divided in six brands: Animale, Farm, Cris Barros, A.Brand, Fábula, Foxton and FYI. Maria Filó will remain an independent brand within Soma’s platform and its creative team will remain involved in the operation of the business.
Closing of the transaction remains subject to approval by Brazilian antitrust authorities.
