Clifford Chance is advising Cellnex Telecom, the Spanish infrastructure operator for wireless telecommunication in Europe, on its acquisition of Arqiva’s telecoms towers business for £2 billion. Linklaters advised Arqiva on the transaction.
The transaction is expected to close in 2020. The transaction covers approximately 7,400 of Arqiva’s cellular sites, including masts and towers as well as urban rooftop sites, and the right to market a further 900 sites across the UK.
Arqiva is a British telecommunications company which provides infrastructure and broadcast transmission facilities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, along with commercial WiFi and smart meter facilities for Scotland and the north of England.
Cellnex Telecom S.A. is an independent operator of wireless telecommunications infrastructure and broadcast infrastructure. The Company’s sites are located in Spain and Italy.
